  Applications :
Used as base for egg-tellurite-glycine agar for the selective isolation of coagulase positive staphylococci from food, skin, soil, air and other materials.
Composition:
Ingredients : gm/lt.
Agar : 20.00
Glycine : 12.00
Sodium pyruvate : 10.00
Pancreatic digest of casein : 10.00
Beef extract (ex.buffalo) : 5.00
Lithium chloride : 5.00
Yeast extract : 1.00
Directions :
1. Add 63.0 gm powder to distilled/deionized water.
2. Bring volume to 950 ml and mix thoroughly.
3. Gently heat and bring to boiling.
4. Autoclave at 15 psi pressure at 121°C for 15 minutes.
5. Cool to 45-50°C.
6. Add 10 ml of sterile 1% Potassium Tellurite Solution and 50 ml of sterile Egg Yolk Emulsion.
Caution :
LiCl is harmful. Avoid all bodily contacts and inhalation of powder and vapours. On contact with skin wash thoroughly with water.
